Scientists said that on the basis of the obtained data they were able to conclude that the ancestors of all currently living domestic horses were domesticated not earlier than 2.7 thousand years B.C. At the same time, according to experts, widespread outside the Pontic-Caspian steppe these animals, presumably, became 500 years later, about 2200 B.C..
In addition, in the course of their research work, scientists have identified a number of features in the genomes of horses, indicating their close inbreeding. As the experts noted, this may indicate that even then people tried to breed breeds with the necessary features for them.
